Resources

These are my favorite resources for learning more about love and relationships:

Books

  • Love Factually: Ten Proven Steps from I Wish to I Do, by Dr. Duana Welch (on the science behind love & dating; also see her blog, podcasts and list of articles by subject)
  • The 7 Principles for Making Marriage Work, by Dr. John Gottman
  • The Five Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts, by Gary Chapman
  • Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment and How It Can Help You Find –and Keep–Love, by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller
  • Too Good to Leave, Too Bad to Stay: a Step-by-Step Guide to Help You Decide Whether to Stay in or Get Out of Your Relationship, by Mira Kirshenbaum
  • Are You the One for Me, by Barbara DeAngeli
  • Everything Isn't Terrible: Conquer Your Insecurities, Interrupt Your Anxiety, and Finally Calm Down, by Dr. Kathleen Smith (The chapter on love is especially insightful.)
  • Uncoupling: Turning Points in Intimate Relationships, by Diane Vaughan (more of an academic read but fascinating book on the uncoupling process.)
